Shit sammiches and swim goggles

Life ain't fair.

102 straight days of swimming laps.

Came to an end yesterday 😭😭😭

The pool was closed all day yesterday due to lightning in the area. Apparently, they close the pool if lightning is in a 10 mile radius.

By my Conrad said that most guarantees and insurance policies have an "act of God" clause, so I ain't counting yesterday.

I got back in the pool and swam my laps today.

Life is always gonna hand you shit sammiches.

I lost my social media accounts with 56,000+ followers in June in a blink of an eye.

Neither of those things were on my calendar.

Nobody warns you before a social media juggernaut wipes out your accounts. It just happens, and you're standing outside a locked pool looking at the water wondering what you're supposed to do now.

You've got a damn good excuse in that very moment. No one would blame you for quitting.

The excuse explains the gap, but what happens after is up to you.

Start posting again. Grab your goggles and get in the pool. As the great poet Sean Carter once said...

"Wipe the dirt off your shoulders"

Done beats perfect every damn time. A messy AF restart always beats tossing in the towel for good.

YOU GOT THIS 🙌

In your corner,
Adam

The house is eerily quiet on Friday and Saturday nights when Ava and Ashton are at their mom's. That kind of silence hits different when you're used to 2 kids running through the place. Back in 2018 when I first became a solo dad (we got back together in 2022) that silence used to send me straight to Lee's Liquor store for some booze. I numbed the pain with booze back then. This go around as a solo Dad? I open my phone, and I go live on Tik Tok. On April 23rd, I challenged myself to do 100...

I walked into our neighborhood pool with a plan on May 26th... I was gonna swim 3-4x per week. A reasonable goal I could stick with. Well, I didn't stick to it. I did better. I kept showing up. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Today, I finished my 100th consecutive day in that pool. 100 days in a row. I'm down 20 lbs. I was down 24 lbs last week, but Ava's bday was on Sunday, and I ate like a pig last weekend (damn you Cheesecake Factory!) and packed on some pounds that I'm...

Man... You guys & gals are amazing. Here's a peek into my inbox from yesterday... Just an outpouring of love. Sure does make a 45 year old man, with an obsession with egg nog, Reese's peanutbutter eggs, and Oreo blizzards from Dairy Queen, feel good. THANK YOU!!! I greatly appreciate you! I'll be honest...I almost didn't hit send yesterday. 23 days of silence is a hard thing to explain, and an even harder thing to admit you don't have a good excuse for. But every single reply told me the same...
