23 days. That's how many days since I sent an email. I missed one day. That turned into 5 days. Then 23 days. Then I panicked..."What do I say?" My buddy Kerry texted me about it on August 19th: He was right. 13 days later, I'm finally taking his advice. I apologize for ghosting you, Reader I pride myself on daily emails. I'd sent one every single day since late July 2025, minus one. March 9th. That's the day I got a call from my daughter's school. Mental health crisis. Her mom and I ran up there and they told us to get her to the ER immediately. 12 hours in the hospital later, my email streak was broke (for good reason). We got her into therapy, and she's doing much, much better. I've felt like a failing father since that day. It messed me up more than I let on. Then I lost my social media accounts on June 12th. The imposter syndrome has has followed that has been BRUTAL. I started a new Threads page two weeks ago and I'm still hesitant to build on it, scared it happens again. That's playing not to lose. Horrendous mindset for an entrepreneur. Around here, we play to win. This email had to happen today because of a video my sister sent me last week. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban, talking about happiness. He said if you want to be happy, ask yourself one question: If you didn't show up today, would anybody miss you? I've got a handful of emails over the last 23 days from people checking in on me. It means 238x more than any of you know. THANK YOU to those who reached out! Turning 45 this month got me in my head. I've missed telling you about my swimming, my kids, the content I'm building. I'm back to daily emails, starting today. It's September 1st. Some people are calling this the Great Reset, and some are calling it Lock In Season. Whatever you call it, I'm committed to sharing the journey with you, Reader! YOU GOT THIS 🙌 In your corner, |

Ashton turned 11 this morning. We have a tradition to keep. The kids are at their Mom's this week, so it sucked not waking up and giving him a big ol' hug & kiss. We started a tradition a few years back. We do it on his bday and Ava's (her bday is the 30th of this month). We go to Dunkin Donuts for some sweet treats. On the way there, we blast "In Da Club" by 50 Cent (It's your birthday...). Ava couldn't make it today, as she had bad cramps, but the tradition still stood for Ashton. When you...
69 straight days swimming laps in the pool. I stepped on the scale on Saturday, and it read: 151.2 lbs. The kids & I ate some pizza on Saturday (and Sunday), so I weigh a bit more. Down 27.4 lbs since January 1st. Anywho, I've shared before that I time myself in the pool. My best time is 7:21 (a few weeks ago, it was 9:08). Tonight I hit 7:22. Same time as Saturday. I looked at my watch, and was a bit disappointed that I was 2 seconds off a new record. Then it hit me... I showed up. Again....
Ava, Ashton, my parents and myself went to Chick-fil-A for lunch today. We got there around noon, and the place was packed. No surprise. The staff running around with smiles and trays in each hand, saying, "my pleasure" like they meant it. As my Dad was wiping salt off his hands from the waffle fries, I got to thinking about Chick-fil-a's operation. They sell chicken. Nothing else. Sandwiches, nuggets, strips, delicious waffle fries and milkshakes. You ain't gonna find burgers, tacos,...
